Trade Minister visits VW assembling plant in Ghana

The Minister for Trade and Industry, Allan Kwadwo Kyeremanten has paid a working visit to the VW assembling plant at the North Industrial Area in Accra.

The visit was to afford the Minister the opportunity to learn at first hand, the state of the setting up of the plant and how far the company’s preparation towards commencement of full blown operations have come.

BestNewsGH.com can report that the Minister who was accompanied by some officials of the Ministry, expressed satisfaction at the state of affairs at the plant and commended officials of VW for a good job.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the State of the Nation Address to Parliament in February, announced the presence of VW in the country.

He revealed that the company had pitched camp in the country, at the North Industrial Area and was billed to start production by the end of April 2020.

The president opined that while Sinotruk has began assembling its trucks in Ghana, Toyota is expected to commence assembling of vehicles in Tema in the last quarter of the year.

‘’We have high hopes for this new industry, which has come to join our own Kantanka’’ the president said.
