The National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Sammi Awuku has challenged his counterpart in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joshua Akamb to join him calm down the youth of the two parties with the view to helping stem political violence in the country.
He said the current tension that has engulfed the country by way of political violence was a very worrying phenomenon that must be dispelled at all cost in order to shape the country’s political and democratic dispensation.
According to him, it behooves them as national organisers of the ruling party and the biggest opposition party to dialogue with the youth of the two parties and to impress upon them to exhibit traits of productive people whose contributions to their respective parties will be greatly appreciated.
Speaking on Accra based Peace Fm Wednesday February 20 2019, Mr. Awuku opined that all well-meaning politicians in the country must work at eliminating every form of violence in the political discourse in the country, adding that he will invite Mr. Akamba and hold discussions with him on the way forward.
‘’I want to throw a challenge to my colleague NDC organizer, lets come to the table with honesty, lets jaw jaw with the youth, let’s find solutions to the challenges, may be the unemployment in the system. Both youth leaders of the two parties, for us as national organisers and as party leadership, how do we channel the energies of these young men into productive use. I will not support the notion that some of these young men are not employable. No matter what the weakness of the person is, you can find a befitting employment or job for them’’ he said.
