President Akufo-Addo inaugurates National Film Authority Board, David Dontoh is Chairman

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated the Governing Board of the National Film Authority.

Veteran Actor, David Dontoh is the Chairman of the Governing Board while Ms. Juliet Asante has been appointed the first Executive Secretary of the Authority.

President Akufo-Addo who performed the inauguration on Friday, December 20, 2019 outlined the functions of the Authority to include supervising an economically, self sustaining and culturally conscious film industry in the country.

Other responsibilities include advising the sector Minister on matters affecting the film industry, facilitating the establishment of a circuit for the distribution and marketing of Ghanaian films throughout the country and on the international market.

The Authority according to the president will also ensure the development and administration of a code of ethics for the film industry; to oversee the Film Development Fund; and to set standards for training and accreditation of practitioners in the film industry.
