The police have launched a manhunt for Ghana’s most wanted criminal who is believed to have succeeded in stealing more than 40 vehicles within a one year span.
Yaw Akoto Bediako is said to have jumped bail and absconded after he was arrested and placed in custody.
The suspect, said to be in his mid 30s specializes in stealing and selling cars and has stolen and sold more than 40 cars in the last one year.
Police at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region revealed that the suspect’s modus operandi includes going to car rental companies from where he rents a car and the absconds.
He then meets with his alleged accomplices at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) where they forge the documents of the rented car and then sell same to unsuspecting members of the public.
“He was arrested and put before the Kwabenya circuit court and was granted bail but has jumped bail. He is suspected to be hiding around Adenta, East Legon, Westland and Kumasi. He is also an addicted gamblers”, police revealed.
