Officials of waste management giant ZOOMLION are appealing to heads of schools in the northern region to open for the Disinfection team to do their work. This follows the failure of some school heads to open their premises for the third phase of the schools’ Disinfection exercise to go on.

Senior Communications Manager at ZOOMLION Atariyure Francis Abirigo made this appeal on the sidelines of the Disinfection exercise currently ongoing in the region. He said, “please open your schools to allow our team to disinfect your school for you. This will help keep the children safe as they return to school”.

Over five thousand basic and senior schools are being disinfected before the pupils and students return to school on October 25. However unlike the previous exercise where there was maximum cooperation from heads of schools, the exercise which is in its second day in the northern region is facing some challenges as some heads of schools are not available to open the schools for the exercise.

In this regard, Mr. Abirigo urged the heads of the schools to cooperate with the spraying team from ZOOMLION to ensure the work is done.

SCHOOL HEADS EXPRESS JOY

Though some schools were not opened for Disinfection, heads of the schools which were opened expressed satisfaction with the exercise.

At the Ghana Senior High School, Assistant Headmaster in charge of domestic affairs Abdul-Nasir Ismail praised government for the initiative saying that it will go a long way to help in keeping the children safe.

He however appealed to government to support the school with more infrustructure as the school currently has a deficit in that area. ” As the children are returning to school, we are happy that government is disinfecting our school but we need more infrustructure to help ensure social distancing when the students return fully in 2021″.

Disinfection Exercise

The exercise which is part of government’s efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The teams charged to carry out the exercise have been deployed to various areas in the northern region to ensure every basic and Senior high school is covered.
