Some opposition Political Parties in the country have hit the streets of the Northern Regional Capital, Tamale, demonstrating against the compilation of a new Voters Register for the 2020 elections.
The Inter-Party Resistance Against the new Voters Register’s demonstration is currently underway in Tamale and has seen thousands in attendance.
The Tikusayi Korinfohili demonstration BestNewsGH.com can report, is the first of a series of demonstrations outlined by the The Inter-Party Resistance Against the new Voters Register across the country and aimed at piling up pressure on government and the Electoral Commission in particular to back down on the compilation of the new register.
Spotted among the demonstrators were the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, some national executives of the NDC, minority Members of Parliament as well as the leader and founder of the All People’s Congress (APC) Hassan Ayariga.
Mr. Hassan Ayariga, speaking to the media said the demonstration is aimed at sending a strong signal to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that Ghana belongs to all Ghanaians and not just they alone.
Opposition Political Parties which took part in the demonstration include the People’s National Convention (PNC) and the United Progressive Party (UPP) among others.
The opposition parties have vowed to follow this up with the Y3npini demonstration in Kumasi on Tuesday 21st January 2020 and climax it with the Wokp3n33 demonstration in Accra on Tuesday, 28th January 2020.
