The Network of Communication Reporters (NCR) has congratulated Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe on her appointment as the new Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer (CCSSO) of MTN Ghana, the telecoms market leader.

Adwoa joins MTN from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), where she was a member of the Executive team, with overall responsibility for Legal and Compliance and Regulatory Affairs.

In her new role at MTN Ghana, Adwoa will have oversight responsibility for the Corporate Services function, focusing on Regulatory Affairs, Sustainability, Corporate Communications and Commercial Legal departments.

She will also serve on the MTN Ghana Foundation Board as Executive Director for the Foundation.

A release from NCR, signed by the Dean, Charles Benoni Okine, noted that like her two female predecessors (Mawuena Dumor and Cynthia Lumor), Adwoa was also drafted from the extractive industry, which “gives us the confidence that she is an excellent fit for the role.”

NCR has observed that key among Adwoa’s responsibilities at MTN will be Corporate Communications, which puts her directly in contact with the media fraternity, adding that “NCR is happy to work with Adwoa as the new face and voice of MTN as far as the media is concerned.”

The statement said NCR was confident Adwoa would continue to use her experience to further deepen the cordial working relationship MTN has kept with the media over the years.

It said NCR was happy to extend the same level of cooperation it had maintained with previous executives of MTN, for which reason MTN continues to enjoy one of the best media relations among all corporate institutions in the country today.

“Whereas we are happy to continue working in partnership with you to help meet your aspirations for the company, we will also look forward to your continuous support to further develop journalists, particularly those with an interest in telecoms reporting.

“We also wish to see a commitment to the timely and timeous release of responses to queries, to enable us to continue to discharge our duties professionally,” the statement said.
