Minister of Special Development Initiative, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has thrown a subtle jab at the opposition National Democratic Congress for their role in the procurement of some substandard ambulances.
She said unlike the empty vans shipped to Ghana under the erstwhile John Mahama administration, her ambulance is like a clinic.
“The ambulance is just like a clinic because it has all the facilities needed to operate. We are a result-oriented government so we won’t ship empty vans into the country and call them ambulances,” she said.
The Minister made the comment on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Friday following the delivery of about 300 ambulances into the country.
The initiative, she said, was to boost the operations of the National Ambulance Service and help to improve emergency healthcare in Ghana.
The Special Development Initiative Minister said to avoid the mistakes made by the Mahama government; she led a delegation of health experts to Turkey to inspect the ambulances to ensure they are fit for purpose.
She decried the shortage of ambulances across the country to transport people in distress, insisting that the Akufo-Addo government will provide an ambulance for each constituency.
She appealed for support as the government works to address the socio-economic needs in the country.
