MTN 2020 blood donation exercise gathers momentum

MTN Ghana is gearing up for its annual blood donation exercise which main objective is to rally the generality of the Ghanaian people to donate blood to stock the various blood banks across the country.

BestNewsGH.com reports Corporate Services Advisor for Southern Ghana, Mr. Kennedy Ofosuhene as indicating during a motivation session for the company’s sales team to get actively involved in this year’s edition of the programme, that the target is to marshal some 5000 pints of blood.

This year’s event according to him, will take place simultaneously on the 14th of February 2020 (Valentines Day) across all 16 Regions og Ghana between 7:00am – 5:00 pm.

Mr. Ofosuhene explained that the company’s Headquarters in Accra will host a 30 Minute opening ceremony to officially declare the Campaign open on Valentine’s Day, adding that the bleeding process will commence at 7am to accommodate donors passing through before work.

He said the bleeding period has been pegged at 7am- 4:30 pm  during which donors will be issued with on the spot donor cards.

He said the MTN Valentine season donation drive started in 2011 and was initially targeted at MTN staff only, adding that it was extended to the general public over the years.

The ‘2020 Save a Life’ he added ‘’Provides an opportunity for MTN staff, other corporate organizations and the general public to show their love during the valentine season to Ghanaians.

He said the blood that is donated to the blood banks have over the years enabled MTN staff and their families to access blood as and when they need it.

‘’MTN has won several awards due to the campaign and thus puts the onus on us to strive to achieve the ultimate, which is the highest singular Corporate donor. The project generates a lot of goodwill and emotional appeal to the brand. Project offers opportunity to partner commercial partners to make better impact’’ he added.
