National Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Yaw Buabeng Asamoa has indicated that the current raging saga of gold trading firm, Menzgold is one of the numerous problems and liabilities bequeathed to the current government by the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

According to him, the government, under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cleared a lot of the problems left behind by the John Dramani Mahama led administration and continues to clear many more including the Menzgold matter.

‘’Menzgold happens to be one of the problems that the NDC has left us to clear. We have cleared a lot of their mess since we came. We had to clear the mess in the banking sector, it cost us a lot of money, licensing ghost banks and running the money around amongst themselves including the family of the then president taking huge loans from the banks and destroying their asset base, we have managed to clear that’’ he told the media in a press conference in response to the NDC’s ‘moment of truth’ press conference held earlier yesterday, Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

Mr. Buabeng Asamoah who is also the Member of Parliament for the Adentan Constituency said government has also been able to clear various arrears the NDC left across the various sectors of the economy.

‘’We have cleared the arrears they left across the economy, from health to school feeding, not to talk about road fund. They actually took government money at some stage to put in private banks at a low interest rate and borrow the money back at a higher interest rate’’ he said.

He added that the NPP will allow the law to work and that in doing so, nobody would be shielded.
