The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested Nii Baah Afful, the man captured in a viral video assaulting a young woman carrying a baby.
The widely circulated footage sparked public outrage, showing the suspect repeatedly striking the woman with a stick after she told him she had found a new partner who was “more handsome and responsible” and no longer wished to be with him.
Advocacy groups and concerned citizens called for swift action, urging law enforcement to ensure justice is served. In response, the police confirmed in a statement that the suspect is in custody and assisting with investigations.
“The suspect, Nii Baah Afful, is currently in police custody, assisting the investigations and will be put before the court to face justice,” the statement read.
Authorities have assured the public that the case will be handled with urgency as they work to bring the suspect to justice.
