A former Attorney General in Kenya is calling for the arrest of any man who is poor and intends to marry.
BestNewsGH.com reports Charles Njonjo, popularly known as Mzee Njonjo or the Duke of kabeteshire as saying no poor man should be allowed to punish anyone’s daughter with poverty.
Mzee Njonjo who turned 100 years last week, BestNewsGH.com can report, said he attained the age of 52 before getting married, as he had to secure his financial future before marrying.
“I don’t understand why men rush to marriage. Why would one want to punish someone’s daughter with poverty? If you attempt to marry while you are poor, you should be arrested”, said Njonjo
According to him, marrying while one is poor automatically spells doom for generations that are to follow, as they will have nothing to inherit from their parents.
He added that “There is nothing like “We shall look for money together”, said Njonjo, “If you don’t have money, you are not ready for marriage”.
