The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has asked the generality of its membership not to be distracted by the activities of some disgruntled leaders who are seeking to dent the image of the party for their selfish gain.

The Party has called out the chairman of its Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee, Mr. Bright Akwettey and Mr. Yaw Asamoah, a former Central Regional Chairman as those who in recent times have through their actions tried to foment confusion in the party.

A statement signed by CPP General Secretary, Mr. James Kwabena Bomfeh and in the possession of BestNewsGH.com cited a court injunction placed on the Party’s National Conference and the convening of an illegal meeting at the CPP Headquarters as some of the acts by the duo which have sought to bring down the party.

The statement read in part that ‘’ They sought to draw the Party into contempt of an injunction procured against it. Regrouping elsewhere they caused to be issued a doubtful statement under the hand of the 1st Vice Chairman, claiming to be the 3rd Vice Chairman and exercising an unaccrued constitutional right per Article 73 of the CPP constitution to call a central committee meeting, albeit wrongly. Erroneously citing the case against the CPP and two others, it drew a strange conclusion that a so called “absence” had been created thus requiring occupancy’’
