Gomoa chief pounded and shot in cold blood

A chief at Gomoa Akranmang in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region has been murdered.

Nana Egyiri, popularly known in the community as ‘Osibo’, was until his death the Gyaasehene (Kingmaker) of Gomoa Akranmang.

A visit to the scene where the chief’s body had been dumped showed that the late chief was found lying in a pool of blood while his home and vehicle had been vandalised.

Bullet shells, a pestle soiled with blood and a blood-soaked shirt belonging to the deceased chief was found at the crime scene.

Some residents of the town, however, believe that the chief’s murder could be linked to land issues.

Police confirmation

The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Irene Oppong, said the Kasoa Divisional Police Command received a distress call from Gomoa Akranmang about the incident and responded.

According to the police, Nana Egyir Ahor I was attacked by a mob from the Akranmang community after he allegedly shot and injured someone in the community on Sunday evening.

She said the police proceeded to the scene only to find the body of Nana Egyir Ahor in a pool of blood in front of his house.

Police are yet to make an arrest in connection with the incident. Some residents in the chief’s house have been invited by the police to help with the investigation.

The late chief’s body has been conveyed to the morgue for autopsy and preservation.
