The President of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), who also serves as a Vice President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), Mr. Stephen Adjokatcher is in Milan, Italy, leading a Ghanaian delegation to the international freight forwarding community’s centenary celebrations.
The landmark event brings together freight forwarders, logistics professionals, industry leaders and representatives of national freight forwarding associations from across the world to celebrate 100 years of FIATA and reflect on the future of the global logistics and supply chain industry.
The presence of the GIFF President and his team at the celebrations highlights Ghana’s growing visibility and influence within the international freight forwarding community.
Opening Doors for Togolese Freight Forwarders
Joining the Ghanaian delegation is a delegation from Lomé, Togo, representing the Union Professionnelle des Agréés en Douane (UPRAD), led by its President, Mr. Manyon Patrick Magnon.
GIFF facilitated UPRAD’s introduction to FIATA, further strengthening professional cooperation and regional collaboration within the freight forwarding and logistics industry.
Through their engagement and support, freight forwarding professionals from Togo have been brought into closer contact with FIATA and its international network. The Togolese freight forwarders are also in Milan participating in the centenary celebrations, marking an important step in strengthening regional cooperation within West Africa’s freight forwarding sector.
The development reflects the growing importance of collaboration among freight forwarding associations in the region, particularly at a time when African countries are seeking stronger integration of their logistics and supply chain systems.
For Ghana and Togo, the initiative provides an opportunity for freight forwarding professionals from both countries to share experiences, build professional networks and gain greater exposure to international best practices.
Ghana at the Global Freight Forwarding Table
The GIFF President’s dual role as head of Ghana’s freight forwarding association and Vice President of FIATA places him in a strategic position to contribute to discussions shaping the future of the global industry.
His participation in the centenary celebrations therefore goes beyond representing Ghana. It also provides an opportunity to advance the interests of African freight forwarders and strengthen the continent’s engagement with the global freight forwarding community.
The Milan gathering is expected to provide opportunities for industry leaders to discuss emerging trends, digitalisation, trade facilitation, sustainability, professional development and the changing demands of global supply chains.

For the Ghanaian delegation, the event is also an opportunity to showcase the country’s freight forwarding sector and deepen relationships with counterparts from different parts of the world.
A Milestone for Regional Collaboration
The participation of Togolese freight forwarders alongside the Ghanaian delegation adds a strong regional dimension to the centenary celebrations.
The initiative demonstrates how professional cooperation between neighbouring countries can create pathways for greater international participation and recognition for freight forwarding practitioners in West Africa.
As FIATA celebrates 100 years of advancing the interests of freight forwarders globally, the presence of Ghanaian and Togolese professionals in Milan represents more than attendance at an international event. It signals a commitment by the region’s freight forwarding community to strengthen its voice, expand its international partnerships and play a more prominent role in the future of global logistics.
The centenary celebrations in Milan therefore provide a fitting platform for the GIFF President and his team to further consolidate Ghana’s position within FIATA while opening new opportunities for Togolese and other West African freight forwarders to connect with the global industry.
