A leading petroleum researcher from Ghana and based in the United States of America (USA), Dr. William Amponsah has been awarded a grant by the United States Department of Energy, to the tune of $17.5 million.
BestNewsGH.com can report that Dr. Amponsah currently works with the New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology (NMT).
A colleague of Dr. Amponsah, Solomon Owusu who said the research proposal submitted by the the awardee was adjudged second among many proposals from dozens of petroleum engineering institutions in the USA.
Biography
Dr Ampomah holds a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from KNUST, Ghana and a Master’s and PhD in Petroleum Engineering from NMT.
“In 2019, he championed the school’s academic collaboration project with KNUST-Kumasi and UNR-Sunyani. His team made an official trip to Ghana in April, 2019 to visit these universities.
Collaborating with Solomon Owusu in Denver, Colorado, the team included UMaT-Tarkwa and they visited the school during the same trip. Again, the team had a meeting with the Energy Minister, Hon. John Peter Amewu at the ministries in Accra on potential research opportunities to improve the energy sector in Ghana and recruitment of Ghanaian students into the school.
