Ghana CEO Summit 2022: Sammi Awuku wins overall Best Public Sector CEO

Coming events, they say, cast their shadows, and that is the case of the dynamic, affable and hardworking Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) Mr. Sammi Awuku.

Mr. Awuku yesterday, Monday, May 22, emerged the overall Best Public Sector CEO at the Ghana CEO Summit 2022, beating stiff competition from more than 30 other Public Sector CEOs.

The quintessential Sammi Awuku who has been at the helm of affairs at the National Lottery Authority for just a few years now, is being recognised for being a model of business excellence, illustrating leadership and vision, demonstrating high Standards of ethical practices and professionalism, investment and job creation in Ghana, and positive impact on the business community in the Public Sector.

Since assuming responsibility for the NLA, Mr. Awuku has initiated massive innovation and championed efforts leading to the digitalisation of the business operations of the Authority. This has culminated in tremendous growth of the lottery industry with the attendant positive impact on the Ghanaian economy.

Mr. Awuku has brought great recognition and international acclaim to the Authority through collaborations with continental and global lottery Associations, leading to many countries making efforts to replicate Ghana’s lottery model in their various jurisdictions.

Also, Mr. Awuku has positioned the Lottery Authority and lottery companies in the country as strategic partners for other lottery bodies in the sub-region, resulting in the NLA now exporting lottery products to other African countries.

The NLA Director-General dedicated the Award to the Board, Management, Staff, and Stakeholders of the National Lottery Authority for their unwavering commitment towards the development and sustainability of the institution.

He shared the great news of the award on his Facebook Page saying ‘’It was humbling to receive recognition as the Overall Public Sector CEO for the year 2022, at the just-ended 7th Ghana CEO Summit and Excellence Awards.

This prestigious award goes to the Board, Management, Staff, and Stakeholders of the National Lottery Authority for their unwavering commitment towards the development and sustainability of the institution.

We are inspired not to rest on our oars but continually do better in all aspects to continually grow our dear institution and contribute to National Development Through Games.’’

The event which attracted the nation’s crème de la crème, presented the most astute captains of industry, spearheading and achieving not only in Ghana’s fledgling economy but also, in the wider context of ECOWAS and Global business circles.

Other CEOs and business executives cutting across industries won awards for various categories.

The top awards for the day went to Mr. Selorm Adadevor overall best CEO private sector and Mr. Samuel Awuku, Overall best CEO, Public Sector.

Mr. Awuku’s Award was presented to him by the former President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
