The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Tamale South Constituency, Haruna Iddrisu has described as absolutely wrong, the decision by the Electoral Commission not include the name of former boss of the EC in its list of eminent persons.

According to him, leaving out Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan is a blander that cannot be justified by the commission.

Mr. Iddsrisu who was speaking in an interview on Accra based TV3 averred that Dr. Afari Gyan who has been Ghana’s longest serving Electoral Commissioner has a vast wealth of experience and expertise than he can share with the current leadership of the Commission.

The Electoral Commission recently paid courtesy calls to various dignitaries it termed eminent persons including former presidents.

The move according to the leadership of the Commission was to elicit advise from these persons in the lead up to the 2020 elections.

But Mr. Iddrisu who also doubles as the Minority Leader in Parliament opines that there is no one more qualified to advise the EC than Dr. Afari Gyan.

He comments come on the back of the recent walk-out staged by the NDC in Parliament over the new Voters Register.
