Mr. Darko in write up and sighted by BestNewsGH.com argued that journalists are on a daily basis exposed to several risks without any form of protection.

Read Mr. Darko’s full write up below:

‘’The death of Edward Kwabi, a journalist with TV3 brings back sad moments.

I know many of the victims of the 2015 presidential press corps accident of which he was part.

The injuries sustained by the victims were very serious.

I visited them the following day at 37 Military Hospital.

I wept seeing the serious injuries.

Samuel Nuamah whom I worked with at Ghanaian Times as stringers died in that accident leaving behind a wife and child.

The late Kwabi, survivor of the 2015 presidential press corps accident actually fractured one of his legs which deformed him.

What was disturbing is that, as at today, I am yet to read about any compensation paid to the victims.

Their media houses also may not have any life insurance policy for them against such unfortunate situations.

Since then, I find it difficult to assign reporters in Accra to assignments that they have to travel outside Accra.

This is because, there is no life insurance cover for staff against such unfortunate situations.

Also, the organisers will not take responsibility when the unfortunate happens.

It made me to think deep about the risks journalists are exposed to without any form of protection.’’
