The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia is alleging that the Electoral Commission has ‘bribed’ some top journalist to support their campaign for the new voters’ register.

According to the NDC general secretary, the EC held a secret meeting with some senior journalist to convince them to shut up and rather propagate, the Commission’s agenda of compiling a new register.

“Ever since the EC had a meeting with senior editors, their thoughts on the issues have changed,” he said in an interview on Accra based Neat FM.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia is of the opinion that, the EC has manipulated the media to be quiet on their decision to compile a new voters’ register ahead of the December polls.

He further stated these senior journalists who met the EC have been impressed upon not to even speak out on why there will be no need for a new register.

The NDC and some 18 CSOs have registered their opposition to the decision of the EC to compile a new voters register.

Meanwhile, the NDC says it will do everything legally possible for the party to win the 2020 general elections.

According to the NDC, the grassroots are yearning for the party to return to power.

They are, however, urging everyone who loved Ghana to work towards NDC’s victory in the 2020 general elections in order to rescue the country from “the mismanagement.”
