DORiSA Consult has successfully hosted the 2nd Edition of its Business Advocacy Forum on the theme: “Building Teams That Last: HR, Systems & Delegation for Sustainable Growth.”

The online forum, held on Google Meet on Wednesday, 9th September 2026, convened business owners, managers, professionals and students to discuss practical strategies for moving businesses from founder-dependent operations to sustainable, systems-driven institutions.

Hosted by the Executive Director of DORiSA Consult, Dr. Doris Aryee, and moderated by Mrs. Barbara Abena Nyamiba Ennin, the forum featured four expert speakers, a live business counseling session and an interactive Q&A.

Leadership That Lasts Must Delegate

Opening the technical sessions, Dr. Samuel Kodzo Senyoh, Certified Leadership Coach and Management Consultant, spoke on Leadership & Effective Delegation.

Sharing practical experiences from his time as a sales manager in a border town, Dr. Senyoh stated that leadership is what allows companies to last.

He emphasized that delegation is not just handing over tasks. Leaders must consider factors such as skills and language, and understand that when a leader delegates, he is empowering his people.

“Delegates should be given the respect and value they deserve so they feel involved, valued and respected,” he said, citing examples such as sleeping at the same hotel and eating together with team members. He added that a culture of togetherness is what makes delegation effective in daily operations and called for a structure-based approach to delegation.

Defining the link between the two, he noted:

Leadership provides the vision, strategic direction, values, and culture necessary for an organization to succeed, while delegation converts that vision into distributed responsibility, empowerment, and organizational capability.

According to him, leadership builds systems, manages resources responsibly, prepares the organization for the future, develops future leaders, increases productivity, encourages employees and helps them to innovate. Leadership is the what and why, delegation is how it actually happens.

People and Market Must Align

Dr. Nancy Erskine-Sackey, Lecturer in Marketing and Entrepreneurship at KAAF University, spoke on People and Market Alignment.

Her core principle was that businesses must satisfy certain groups of people in order to keep growing. She challenged participants with a key question: What happens if you have a good product and your customer base increases, but the people inside the organization are not ready?

Defining the market as a place where exchange of goods and services takes place, she urged businesses to move away from traditional ways of doing business and focus on building a team and managing the new market system.

She advised business owners to consider both the people they are building the business with and the platform on which they are doing business, stressing that the pain of spending should come back with value. For building a resilient team, she recommended getting the right people on board, giving them a sense of responsibility, and ensuring they see themselves as part of the business.

Sustainability is a Way of Operating

On Institutional Leadership and Sustainability, Dr. Cynthia Sena Kpeglo-Freiku, Executive Secretary, Vice Chancellors Ghana, said her office focuses on three areas: risk management and ethical conduct, administrative excellence, and accountability and innovation.

“Sustainability is a way of operating, and a good leader is someone whose absence is not felt,” she stated.

She emphasized the need to build HR capacity and make excellence repeatable. She described delegation as a shift from control to empowerment, warning that if there are good people but a weak system, the system becomes vulnerable.

Institutions, she advised, should subject themselves to the sustainability test. “We recruit for sustainability, we build systems, and when this is shared, the institution becomes sustainable.”

Governance Builds Confidence

The final speaker, Mr. Benjamin Akyena Brantuo, Gov’t Relations Specialist, International Justice Mission, spoke on Government Relations, SME Governance and Stakeholder Relations for Growth.

He explained that while many businesses begin with a good idea, a committed founder, a small team and internal customers, to grow they need access, finance, relations and the ability to make sound decisions.

On governance, he noted that stakeholder relationships can become assets that help the business grow. He defined governance simply as “how to manage my business,” stating that governance provides the structure that builds confidence.

“A business without governance is just hanging. With good governance, the business will still run effectively in the absence of the founder,” he said. He warned that business should not be done with emotion and emphasized the need for governance that is credible enough for sustainability. He concluded by advising participants to clearly identify their business idea and their stakeholders.

A Call to Build Stronger

The forum ended with a panel discussion and live business counseling session moderated by Dr. Doris Aryee, followed by a vote of thanks by Ms. Elizabeth Nartey, and closing prayer by Mrs. Doreen Ada Adzewoda.
