Don’t jeopardise Ghana’s peace with violence and indiscipline-Dr. McKorley admonishes Ghanaian youth ahead of election 2020

The Chairman and Chief Executive officer of the McDan Group, Dr. Daniel McKorley has admonished the youth to desist from acts that has the tendency to throw the nation into chaos and jeopardise the peace of the country before, during and after the 2020 elections.

Dr. McKorley said the youth must refrain from violence and divisive acts and utterances which would threaten the peaceful conduct of the upcoming elections.

The Business Mogul who was speaking as the Chairman for the National Youth for Peace Summit held in Accra on Tuesday September 21, 2020 underscored the need for the youth and all actors in the electoral space to work at preserving Ghana’s reputation as a stable democracy.

‘’At the end of the day, what matters is not so much which candidate or which party wins this election, as long as the country wins.’’ Dr. McKorley averred.

Organised by the National Peace Council (NPC) the summit sought to engage the youth on the need for peace ahead of the December elections.

Other stakeholders who played roles in the summit were the Ghana Journalists Association and the Auntie is Merkezi Organisation (AIMO).

The Summit also formed part of activities marking International Day of Peace and was on theme ‘Shaping Peace Together’.

The summit primarily focused on discussing civil responsibilities of the youth, the need to promote inter-party dialogue and tolerance.

It also gave participants an in-depth education on vigilantism and related-offenses law, and the need for the youth to become peace campaigners.

The summit also formed part of NPC and the GJA’s mandate to contribute to peace and national cohesion before, during and after the December 2020 elections.

The summit drew representation from a cross-section of Ghanaians, notably, the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Information, National Youth Authority, Political Parties, Traditional Authorities, Religious Leaders, Civil Society Organisations, and the Business Community.
