Disinfection of Tertiary Institutions kick-starts ahead of reopening on 9th

Tertiary institutions across the country are readying themselves for reopening on the 9th January as announced by President Nana Akufo Addo during his 21st COVID-19 update to the nation.

As part of the preparations ZOOMLION Ghana has started disinfecting all tertiary institutions across the country.

The exercise is going on concurrently across the country with lecture halls, auditoriums, laboratories, offices and hostels of the institutions being disinfected.

VOLTA TERTIARY Institutions grateful to government

In the Volta institutions such as the Ghana Telecom University College, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Holy Spirit College of Education, EP University College, Peki College of Education and Ho Polytechnic are benefiting from the exercise, the heads of expressed appreciation to government for the initiative.

Dean of the Business School at the EP University College, Mr. P.H Norgah said, “we are happy about this exercise and we are grateful to Government and ZOOMLION Ghana Limited for this and we wish to assure our students that the school is safe for them to return…

…other safety measures such as the provision of hand-washinh devices and sanitizers will be made available once they return to school”.

On her part, the Registrer of the Ho campus of the Ghana Telecom University College Madam Bertha Walla stressed that, “the exercise is a good one and it will go a long way to help keep the students safe. We are therefore grateful to government and ZOOMLION Ghana Limited for the intervention. We want to assure the students that the premises is safe for them to return”.

Ashanti Private School Heads call for support

Some private universities in the Ashanti region have called on government to assist them as they prepare to resume school on Monday.

According to some registrars, the covid 19 pandemic has made them not able to complete their academic year.

Speaking to the media during a disinfection exercise carried out by ZOOMLION Ghana limited ahead of school reopening, Mr Fred De-Graft Adjei, assistant registrar at Ghana Baptist university College called on government to assist them financially to be able to run their next  academic semester.

Disinfection of Senior High and basic schools to follow

After the Disinfection of the tertiary institutions, senior high and basic schools which are also expected to reopen from the 15th January, will also benefit from the exercise as part of efforts to make the schools safe for pupils and students.
