The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley has charged employers to exhibit a high sense of discipline in order to elicit optimum performance from their employees.

The move Dr. McKorley explained will also stimulate employee efficiency and efficacy.

According to the Business Mogul, it is imperative to define the role of each employee for purposes of accountability.

Dr. McKorley who was Speaking in an interview on Accra based Joy Fm on attitudes and advise on poor work ethics of hired staff averred that “Teach your employees that I employed you to find me solutions not to bring me problems. Some employers take too long in firing their workers’’.

He opined that “You have employees who are not consistent and these kinds of superstar attitudes and many times, they feel they are doing you a favour. It makes control very difficult,”.

He said most Ghanaians are able to work with foreign employers fluidly and seamlessly because these employers are principled.

What even exacerbates the problem according to him, is the fact that most of the employees whose performance and output are low, seem to be oblivious of the fact that their attitude amounts to misconduct.

Dr. McKorley told host of the Super Morning Show on Joy Fm, Kojo Yankson that “If you are not careful in Ghana, you will drop your standards to the standard of the people you employ. Because of their attitudes, you begin to accept the unacceptable,”.

Going by the cliché ‘leadership by example’ Dr. McKorley said employers must show exemplary traits to be emulated by their employees.

“You inject that attitude into your worker, keep your values. When your integrity levels are low you are destroying your employee,” Dr. McKorley added.
