General Overseer of the Makers’ House Chapel, Dr Michael Boadi Nyamekye is pushing for churches to remain closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

His position supports that of Dr. Mensah Otabil of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) who a few days ago posited that it is not a good time lift the ban on social gatherings.

According Dr. Nyamekye, the decision by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to extend the ban on social gatherings was in he right direction and must be upheld by all churches.

Speaking on Accra based Okay Fm and monitored by BestNewsGH.com, Dr. Boadi Nyamekye averred that  “The truth is we have to think about lives. If it is only the Word of God we want to tell them, we can reach them on the TV, radio and internet.’’

He continued that “We should pray that the people stay alive because it is when people are alive that they will come to church but if they get infected by the disease, there is nothing that we can do.’’

For those Christian leaders who are advocating for the lifting of the ban, these are his words for them “We need people to be alive to be in church so we have to do whatever we can to make sure they’re alive and healthy, and they should wait patiently for things to tone down,” he said.
