It was all drama at School Junction, a suburb of Ashaiman when the founder of Heavenslife Global Church Bishop Dr. Eric Borngreat Aboagye literally went on a relay without a baton to escape arrest by a taskforce enforcing the President’s directive banning all social gatherings in the country.

The man of God who had defied the directive and was holding a church service with more than 50 persons in attendance MyNewsGh.com gathered, spotted members of the taskforce heading towards the church.

Sensing that he could be arrested, arraigned before court and jailed if found guilty, he abandoned the congregation and took to his heels leaving behind his sandals and bible and was pursued by the joint police and Ashaiman Municipal Taskforce.

He managed to run faster and could be likened to former Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt using nearby bushes as a cover to escape.

Spokesman for the taskforce Moses Ayariga who confirmed the arrest MyNewsGh.com, said they had a tip off and therefore went to the church but the pastor upon seeing them took to his heels but officials managed to clamp his car.

“We managed to clamp his vehicle at the church in order to force him to report himself”, he revealed.

President Akufo-Addo on March 15, 2020, in a television broadcast by Executive Instrument declared the ban on all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, church activities, and other related events as part of measures to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country.

“All public gatherings, including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities, such as services in churches and mosques, have been suspended for the next four (4) weeks. Private burials are permitted, but with limited numbers, not exceeding twenty-five (25) in attendance”, he disclosed.
