Former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allottey Jacobs has posited that the beautiful interior of the 307 ambulances procured by the Akufo-Addo led government for the 275 constituencies, can bring a dying patient back to life.

According to him, even though successive governments have done their bit by way of importing ambulances to improve healthcare delivery, the ones by the current government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are the best.

Mr. Allottey Jacobs averred on a local radio station and monitored by BestNewsGH.com that “We all should face facts if you look at the inside and see the equipment and colour design it looks very attractive. If you are at the point of death, the colours in the ambulance can give you the vim to survive. The inside is great.’’

He continued that “All those ambulances that were brought into the country from the Kufuor to Mahama regimes must be added to the current fleet. If they is the need to retool them, they should so we carve a new ambulance system. It would be prudent for the government to supply the ambulances to the Regional and Teaching Hospitals.’’

On Tuesday, January 28, 2020, President Akufo-Addo commissioned the 307 ambulances procured in fulfillment of a promise to give all the 275 constituencies, an ambulance each.

The the commissioning and presentation ceremony at the Independence square in Accra, the president said “In December 2015, two hundred (200) ambulances were supposedly purchased by the Mahama government, out of which only thirty (30) arrived in the country. As though this was not enough, the thirty (30) were declared “not fit for purpose because they had cardinal defects and did not come with any medical equipment. This was completely unacceptable, and my government was determined to rectify this unhappy state of affairs.’’
