Armed robbers break into Sunyani GCB ATM

Some armed robbers have killed a security officer stationed at E-zwich, Zenith Bank, GCB bank and Barclays bank ATM posts at Sunyani Technical University (STU).

The dead security personnel identified as Dabila Sumaila who was in his 50s is believed to have been killed by the suspected robbers when they raided the ATMs.

According to Sunyani based Ark FM, the deceased was found with his face covered with a jacket and hands and legs tied with a rope to a chair and table at a garage on the campus.

“The robbers succeeded in breaking into the ATM of the GCB but failed in their attempt at that of Barclays Bank. They covered the CCTV in the room with a piece of cloth”, they reported.

Inspector Kingsley Wiredu from the Sunyani Police Municipal Command led by the Crime Officer arrived at the scene this morning and said police would send the deceased’s body to the morgue of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital for autopsy.
