The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has rubished publications in sections of the media which allege that a daughter of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was contracted to airlift supporters of the senior National Team, the Black Stars to Egypt for the AFCON 2019 tournament.

The publication which can be sourced to NDC TV, suggests that Gyankroma Akufo-Addo was contracted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports not only to airlift the supporters, but to provide accommodation and feeding for them.

The publication further alleged that the president’s daughter charged government 20 thousand dollars per supporter and that having transported 120 persons, she made 2.4 Million Dollars or 13.5 Million Ghana Cedis.

But the Ministry has denied the allegations and described them as totally unfounded, mischievous and a figment of imagination of the authors.

The statement signed by the sector Minister, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah clarified that the organization and successful airlifting of Ghana’s supporters, officials of MOYS and other key stakeholders were done by a 5 member committee made up of staff of the MOYS and a representative from the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice.

“In order to save cost, protect the public purse and ensure that there is value for money, all arrangements of accommodation and internal transportation were done by the Ghana Embassy in Egypt in conjunction with the project committee of the MOYS” the statement added.

All flight arrangements according to the statement were contracted to a reputable agency whose track record in the travel and tour industry is impeccable, White Oak Limited.
