Government says it cannot confirm or deny reports of the arrest of the wanted Chief Executive Officer of gold trading firm, Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Various media houses published the arrest of the NAM1 as the Menzgold Chief Executive Officer is popularly called in Dubai and widely circulated on social media.
But speaking on Accra based okay fm Monday, January 14 2019, deputy information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide said government has not received any official correspondence or information with respect to the arrest, saying he cannot confirm or deny if indeed the arrest has been made.
He said it was possible that the fugitive CEO who has been declared wanted could have been arrested given the fact that government and the security agencies were on a manhunt for him in partnership with Interpol.
‘’I cannot confirm or deny if he has indeed been arrested because we haven’t received any official correspondence or information to that effect. But it is possible he could have been arrested because government is working in partnership with the Interpol. But for now we can’t confirm or deny the reports’’ he said.
He added ‘’I am currently on my way to the office and it is only when I get there that I can tell whether he has been arrested or not’’.
