TEIN Cordinators Take on Mahama Over Appointment Snub

There are concerns within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) over appointment snub especially from TEIN.

While campaigning, the then candidate Mahama reportedly assured the Tertiary wing of the political party he was not going to overlook especially their cordinators during appointments.

However, after winning the 2024 election, TEIN has been ignored by the appointing authority.

What’s even worrying is the fact that celebrities whose role in the party’s victory cannot be quantified have been appointed to roles of influence in the current government.

A Deputy National TEIN coordinator, Sharif Mohammed Ayedakew in a post expressed concerns indicating that it is demoralizing if John Dramani Mahama only recognizes the use of TEIN for mobilization during elections but not during appointments.

His comment shared via social media read “In a recent election, youth engagement took center stage, with students from TEIN (Tertiary Education Institutions Network) schools across the country playing pivotal roles in campaign efforts.

However, despite their grassroots contributions, TEIN coordinators, both national and regional, have yet to be included in the newly formed government. This exclusion risks fostering resentment among these dedicated volunteers, who may feel their efforts were exploited only to be overlooked afterward.

The danger lies in demoralizing a critical base: if the party expects these coordinators to mobilize support again in future campaigns, it must address the perception that loyalists are being “used and dumped.”

Meanwhile, the appointment of celebrities who did not actively participate in campaigning has intensified frustrations. This contrast highlights a disconnect between rewarding visibility and valuing on-the-ground work, potentially alienating the very demographic that fueled the party’s electoral success”.
