ROMANS 12:3

“FOR BY THE GRACE GIVEN ME I SAY TO EVERYONE OF YOU: DO NOT THINK OF YOURSELF MORE HIGHLY THAN YOU OUGHT; BUT RATHER THINK OF YOURSELF WITH SOBER JUDGEMENT….

Submitting to God and His appointed leaders is a beautiful thing. Yet, it is one aspect of the Christian journey that many struggle with.

“Letting go and allowing someone else take control of our lives is one of the hardest things to do”. But once we learn to submit to spiritual authority, our spiritual and social experience is significantly enhanced. Submission to spiritual or earthly authority doesn’t always come naturally. True submission always faces some resistance to the will of God. For some reason, the enemy has succeeded in duping many people into fear. Many people operate out of a mistaken assumption that, God doesn’t want the best for His children. The devil has succeeded in putting this false impression into the minds of many that, “God is wicked, vindictive and a judgmental God”, and that fear alone makes it difficult for people to submit, because they believe submission will lead to unhappiness. I have observed for many years that, when people develop an unrealistic view of themselves, they find it difficult to submit.

“Don’t think too highly of yourself….”( Romans 12:3).

Usually in the church, whenever PRIDE is part of the equation, we see ourselves greater than we are. We look at our abilities, talents, achievements and wealth in a glorified light that places us on a pedestal above everyone else. We become increasingly obsessed with success and being the best at the detriment of leadership and established rules and procedures;

PRIDE will not allow us to submit; it causes us to assess our lives by the standard of our accomplishments rather than our God given identity.

When PRIDE flourishes, every victory; small or big is attributed to our own effort and greatness, rather than giving praise to God and submitting to His leadership. Pride makes us direct our worship to ourselves.

To be cont..

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
