Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante Appeatu of being a cover-up expert, who does not get to the bottom of very serious criminal cases in the country.

According to him, Mr. Appeatu perfectly covered up the Yaa Naa murder case when he was the boss of the Criminal Investigations Department at the time the Murder took place.

‘’This IGP is an expert in cover-up. I am telling you, he should come and arrest me, he is an expert in cover-up. Because at the time they killed the Yaa Naa, do you know he was the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department? And he kept giving excuses and just after the issue happened, the following day they transferred several police officers and CID personnel who were up North, just like the transfers he effected yesterday after the demonstration’’ he argued.

The NDC chief scribe who was speaking on Accra based okay Fm said the NDC as part of the Inter-Party Coalition for National Sovereignty decided to join the Aagbe Wo demonstration which was staged yesterday, Thursday February 7, 2019 because they believe the current IGP, the Minister for the Interior and the Minister for National Security must resign or shown the exit.

He reiterated the position of the NDC that the commission of inquiry set up by the Vice President with the consent of the President is a grand ploy by the government to shield perpetrators of the violence that took place at the La Bawaleshie Park in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

According to him, there is enough evidence on the ground to support arrests and prosecutions if indeed government wants to look into the matter and bring the culprits to book.
