The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has described the 31st December 1981 revolution led by former president Jerry John Rawlings as criminal and the bane of sustained indiscipline in the country.

A statement issued under the hand of the General Secretary of the CPP, James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr. and sent to BestNewsGH.com read in part that ‘’In the process, the vigilant, patriotic and unyielding wo/men in uniform paid the highest sacrifice with their lives. 31st December sowed the seeds of indiscipline where age, seniority and respect for order were thrown to the dogs. Intolerance for dissent rose in their stead at diabolical heights where a so called “winner-takes-all” syndrome reared its ugly head again like in 1966 and 1972 to ridiculous heights.’’

The statement continued that ‘’As a consequence, members of past regimes are flatly treated as criminals and chased with unrestrained venom. So for nearly two and half decades we have lived with tension and build-up hatred at any change in regime by the ballot.’’
