Impeccable information available to BestNewsGH.com reveals that former Upper West Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman Abubakar, popularly known as Alhaji Short is due to be sworn in by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a Member of the Council of State today.

Currently the Board Chairman of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company, Alhaji Short replaces late Council of State Member, Ambassador Sahanun Mogtari who passed on a few weeks ago, as the representative of the Upper West Region.

Alhaji Short was tipped as favourite to emerge National Chairman of the NPP during the Party’s National Delegates Conference, but stepped down a few weeks to the election.

He is reputed to have significantly increased the party’s fortunes in the region, culminating in annexing some Parliamentary seats for the party in the region.
