Ghana’s market leader in the oil marketing sector, GOIL Company Limited has assured of its continuous support towards the development of Maths and Science to ensure Ghanaian youth are imbued with the requisite tools to lead the charge of technological advancement in the country.
Managing Director and Group CEO of GOIL, Kwame Osei Prempeh gave the assurance when the winners of the National Maths and Science Quiz (NSMQ) Presec-Legon presented their trophies to him at the Company’s headquarters.
As one of the key sponsors of the NSMQ, Mr. Osei Prempeh said it was the company’s contribution towards Ghana’s efforts at developing its Science based human resource.
“We need to focus on Science and Maths as a demonstration of building this country because that is where the world is moving towards,” the GOIL MD said.
The Chief Operating Officer of GOIL, Alex Adzew also added that GOIL employs a lot of engineers and scientists who work across its downstream and upstream areas of operation, saying the company believes contributions in that regard would go a long way to help produce brilliant Ghanaian engineers and scientists that GOIL and the larger oil and gas industry can benefit from in future.
“We are an oil marketing company. We have a lot civil, mechanical, electrical and petrochemical engineers. Currently we have geologists we have trained for the upstream activity. The NSMQ is a very good platform, and because of that, we want to associate with anything that is maths and science,” he said.
The management of GOIL also praised the efforts of the teachers working tirelessly towards the development of students in the various second cycle institutions in the country.
The organisers of the National Maths and Science Quiz, lauded GOIL for contributing immensely to the success of the program over the years.
