President John Dramani Mahama has pledged decisive action against road contractors who allegedly received double payments during the administration of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Speaking during his “Thank You” tour of the Eastern Region, President Mahama revealed that an audit conducted by the Auditor-General had uncovered irregularities in payment records involving multiple contractors.

“Contractors found to have received unjustified multiple payments will face legal consequences. The discrepancies revealed by the audit will be addressed strictly according to the law,” President Mahama stated.

He further explained that only contractors cleared by the audit would be permitted to return to site to resume stalled projects.

Addressing traditional leaders and residents, President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalising critical infrastructure projects across the country.

He assured the public that roads left abandoned by the previous administration would be completed, alongside new projects, as part of his broader development agenda.

As part of the government’s “Big Push” initiative, President Mahama also announced plans to construct a modern bridge over the Afram River in the Eastern Region.

The bridge, he noted, is intended to enhance connectivity and ease transportation challenges for residents, particularly farmers who rely on the route to transport their produce to market.

“We are committed to finishing what was left undone and bringing new development that will transform lives, especially for those in our farming communities,” President Mahama assured.
