The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has summoned the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, following a viral video in which Sammy Gyamfi is seen handing out money in public.

Mr Gyamfi gave out an undisclosed amount of foreign currency—reportedly in US dollars—to evangelist and former fetish priestess, Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

Insiders at the Jubilee House confirmed that Mr Gyamfi has been requested to present himself before the Chief of Staff to clarify the circumstances surrounding the controversial gesture.

The incident has triggered widespread public criticism and raised serious questions regarding the ethical conduct expected of public officeholders.

The footage, now widely shared across social media platforms, appears to show Mr Gyamfi presenting the cash to Nana Agradaa in what critics say could undermine President John Dramani Mahama’s recently launched Code of Conduct for Public Officials.

The Code, a cornerstone of the government’s broader anti-corruption agenda, stresses integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life.

Mr Gyamfi, in a statement issued on Sunday, 11 May, expressed regret over the incident, describing it as a personal act of generosity that was never intended for public attention.

Nonetheless, sources close to the Presidency indicate that the Chief of Staff is treating the matter with utmost seriousness, owing to its potential political implications and reputational impact on the administration.
