COVID-19: Ussuya Ghana Limited donates GH¢150,000 worth of supplies to Upper West

Construction Company, Ussuya Ghana Limited has donated items worth One Hundred and Fifty Thousand (150,000) Ghana Cedis to the Upper West Region as the Company’s contribution towards the fight against COVID-19.

The Company, whose Managing Director, Alhaji Yussif Yakubu is a native of the Region, made the donation which was received by the Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

The gesture, according to the Transport Manager of Ussuya Ghana Limited, Francis Luther, is part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to the country.

BestNewsGH.com can report that the items which include 200 gallons of hand sanitizers, 20 infrared thermometers, 6 dispensers, 8 boxes of nose masks, boxes of hand gloves and 400 pieces of hand sanitizers (small size 500ml) are to be distributed among the various health facilities across the Region.

‘’As a company, Ussuya Ghana Limited is aware of the dire situation the country finds herself at the moment, following the outbreak of our common enemy, the COVID-19 pandemic and we cannot sit on the fence and watch. So our MD who is a son of the Region, Alhaji Yussif Yakubu has sent us to make this presentation to the Region as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the country and the Region in particular. We have here, infrared thermometers, hand gloves, hand sanitizers and masks among others’’ Mr. Luther said while handing the items over to the Regional Minister, at the forecourt of the Regional Coordinating Council.

He continued that ‘’We are saddened by the fact that the Region has recorded one positive case and we don’t know what lies ahead and it is not everyone, especially the needy who can afford these. That it why our MD has decided to make this donation to the region’’.

He impressed upon the people of the Region to endeavor to adhere to precautionary measures as outlined by government and health authorities in order to save themselves and their loved ones.

Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the Regional Minister on his part, lauded Ussuya Ghana Limited for the generous gesture and for rescuing the Region in its time of need, explaining that the items could not have come at a better time.

‘’I stand on behalf of the chiefs and people of the Upper West region to thank Ussuya Ghana Limited for coming to the aid of the Upper West Region. Since the confirmation of a case in the Upper West Region we have called on worthy sons and daughters of the Upper West Region to come to our aid and I am happy that since that call was made, we’ve had a number of donations and others have also indicated their readiness to come to the assistance of the region. Ussuya Ghana Limited is a well known construction firm not only in the Upper West Region but the entire nation and this is not the first time the company is coming to the assistance of the region. The company has done that countless number of times so when I got the information that today they will be presenting these items to the region I was not supprised. I wish them every success in their endeavors.” the Regional Minister posited.

While assuring that the items will be used judiciously, Dr. Bin Salih extolled well meaning sons and daughters of the region to use this opportunity to register their names in the annals of the region by donating and contributing generously to help the region win the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I want to use the opportunity once again to appeal to all and sundry to come to the aid of the region, COVID 19 is real and we must all observe the protocols prescribed by our health personnel. We should wash our hands regularly with soap and running water, we should also observe social distancing, it is very very important” he averred further.

The beneficiary facilities to receive the items are the Wa Municipal hospital, Islamic hospital in Wa, Ahmaddiya Hospital at Kaleo, Tumu Municipal Hospital and St. Theresa’s hospital in Nandom.

Dr. Osei Kuffour Afreh, the Upper West Regional Diretor of Health who was on hand to take delivery of the items from the Regional Minister, expressed gratitude to Ussuya Ghana Limited and promised to ensure that beneciary frontline puts the items to good use.
